Satellite Photographs of Isthmus of Rivas.

The first photograph shows the Pacific Ocean to the right and the Lake of Nicaragua to the left.  Ometepe Island with its two volcanoes is in the lake about 5 miles offshore.  The directional pointer is incorrect and is actually pointing south.  Space Shuttle photograph of the Isthmus of Rivas and the Island of Ometepe in Lake Nicaragua. The second photograph shows a larger view of the isthmus, ocean and lake.  The top of the photo is west, with the Pacific at the top, the isthmus running left to right, and the lake at the bottom.  Costa Rica is on the left, and Nicaragua on the right.  NASA photo.
